Sue's jade ring

Sue had a very special wedding anniversary coming up and wanted to celebrate with a bespoke ring.

She wanted to use some rings that she no longer wore as well as the small stones that were set into them. She also wanted the ring to feature a jade stone which is the gift traditionally given for a 35th anniversary.

We drew out a design to feature an oval cut jade set in a unique bypass style setting. Then we measured Sue’s stones and drew them into the design. Sue liked the look of a grain setting for these stones.

All we needed now was to choose a jade stone. We had a sample of jade that was a nice dark colour so we gave that to our gemstone supplier and had the perfect stone cut to the right size and shape.

We now had all the gold and the stones that we needed so we gave all of this to the goldsmith to start!

After the stones were unset from Sue’s rings and cleaned, the gold was melted together to create a bar which could then be rolled and shaped until it was the right depth and width.

Once the ring was made, it was sent to the assay office for a hallmark and the the stones were set!

It’s such a unique and beautiful ring. The jade is so eye catching!
