Claire's remodelled gold and diamond rings

Claire and her friend came in to Petra Jewellery to enjoy an Afternoon Tea Design Experience.

She had some sentimental rings, including a sapphire a diamond ring and a vintage ring holding some small old cut diamonds.

We sat down and came up with a few ideas including a pendant and some stud earrings but the designs that really caught Claire’s imagination were the rings…

We decided to use the yellow gold wedding bands, inherited from parents and grandparents, as well as a diamond from the sapphire ring to create a beautiful, chunky ring.

Claire also wanted to have another, more delicate ring to wear with it. She liked the idea of unsetting the small diamonds from the vintage ring and setting them into a new band in a way that would keep some of the aesthetic of the original ring.

We came up with the idea of star setting the diamonds, which is exactly as it sounds! Each stone is set into the metal and small grains are pushed to hold the stone in place, then star points are engraved in to give the illusion.

Both pieces were made in our workshop by our goldsmith, Behzad. You can see that both finished pieces are absolutely stunning!
