Charlotte's engagement ring

Jamie came in to see Jo, one of the designers to have an engagement ring design.

He came with his mum and some of her diamonds that she was offering to use, as this would make the ring have more sentimental meaning as it was from the family.

The image below shows Jo’s hand drawn sketches, which helped Jamie visualise what the finish ring would look like.

Jamie had an idea of what he was looking for and how he would like the ring to look, because this was going to be a surprise for Charlotte, Jo discussed with Jamie, what he thought her style was, and Joe also ensured that the design with work with her lifestyle as well.

We discussed the metal, how the stones would be laid out, he wanted the centre stone and then diamonds on the shoulders and agreed it would be sensible to make the ring in platinum as not only is it a beautiful white metal, but it also will mean it will be hard wearing particularly with the claw setting details and the sentimental value of the family stones.

Behzad, our goldsmith, hand-made the platinum mount in our on-site workshop and was able to create the settings to fit the sentimental stones perfectly. Here you can see a time-lapse video of Bezhad making Charlotte’s ring.

Once the ring was made it was sent to the assay office to be hallmarked, before having the diamonds set and given one final polish.

Jamie was delighted with the ring and could not wait to propose to Charlotte at a special waterfall in Wales and pop the big question…

She said “yes!”

and she absolutely adores her beautiful diamond ring.
