Ashley got in touch with the Petra Team as he wanted to have something really special made for his wife to surprise her on their anniversary.
He had a zoom call with our lead designer, Beth, to discuss what he wanted. He liked the idea of incorporating a shuttlecock as a symbol of how they met.
During the consultation, he told Beth that he met his wife while playing badminton and in every birthday, anniversary and Christmas card ever since, he has sealed it with a shuttlecock.
Following the design consultation, Beth worked closely with our goldsmith to come up with a design for a 3D shuttlecock brooch.
Ashley also made the suggestion of setting rubies into the brooch as a nod to the particular brand of shuttlecocks they used to play with.
Once the design was finalised and Ashley had given the go-ahead, our goldsmith, Behzad, got to work on the brooch.
He started by handcrafting each individual feather and creating the end piece for them to slot into.
Each individual feather was then soldered into place and supporting bars were added to give it more structure as well as making them look more realistic.
The final step was to set the rubies, so we sent the brooch to one of our fantastic setters…
The finished brooch is fantastically unique and beautiful!
