Jane’s Afternoon Tea Experience

Jane came in to Petra Jewellery for an Afternoon Tea Design Experience.

She had quite a few pieces of jewellery that she hadn’t worn for a long time and was keen to discuss what to do with them.

We spent quite a bit of time at the start getting an overview of all her items. It’s helpful to understand the emotinal drivers are as some pieces we can treat as just ‘metal’, whereas others are hugely sentimental and the actual value is less of of a deciding factor in what to do with it.

Amongst her collection, Jane had a beautiful princess cut tanzanite ring that meant an awful lot to Jane and she desperately wanted to give it a new lease on life.

So we unset the tanzanite from the ring, along with the diamonds from an old 14 carat eternity band.

Jane’s tanzanite and diamonds were going to be set together in a new, very contemporary rub-over setting.

Our master goldsmith started the re-modelling process by making a bespoke platinum mount for the stones. The new rub-over setting is not only beautiful, but also improves the security of the stones which was a priority for such a sentimental ring.

Jane was over the moon with her finished piece and was left speechless when she saw the ring.

Both Jane and Nancy have had several pieces of jewellery made from their afternoon tea experience.
