Abi's Favourites of 2023

It’s been an absolutely incredible year and I’ve felt so privileged to be a part of creating some beautiful bespoke pieces and remodelling some sentimental jewellery into something to be worn and loved every single day. It was very tricky picking my favourites but here are some pieces that I stick out in my mind.

Vicky

Vicky came in for an Afternoon Tea Design experience with her husband, they had a wonderful collection of inherited and sentimental jewellery they wanted to remodel into pieces Vicky could wear and enjoy. She had her heart set on a stunning bubble style ring using all her gemstones and gold, the final piece we landed on was truly an impressive piece of jewellery! One of my absolute favourite pieces to design, from the process of working with Vicky to the finished piece.

James and Georgie

These two wedding rings were such a delight, both were designed bespoke to complement each other. Georgie had a stunning swirl design engagement ring and wanted her wedding ring to fit perfectly whilst matching the aesthetic. We ended up choosing diamonds and green sapphires. James’ ring was a titanium band engraved with trees and mountain ranges to replicate their favourite hiking spot. He had a ruby set in place of a little campfire and to pair with Georgie’s sapphire. They were such beautiful rings and it was a pleasure of being a small part of their big day.

Bob

This was my first commissioned piece, which now seems a little crazy to say! Bob came to see me with his daughter Vicky, looking to have a ring made with his and his late wife, Yvonne’s, gold and stones. He had originally wanted a bombay style ring but after a couple of design iterations we landed on a heavy carnelian set signet ring and wow, it really is an incredible piece!

Jay

I absolutely loved designing this ring for Jay. She and her partner, Tony, were just an absolute delight. We created two beautiful rings for Jay, a remodel of her existing engagement ring and a brand-new rub over set ring using Jay’s inherited diamonds from rings that she wasn’t wearing. The final pieces were beautiful and it’s a pleasure knowing they can now be worn and enjoyed!

Cian

This was my favourite engagement ring I designed this year. The scale of the diamonds were just incredible, the centre stone being a 8mm round lab grown diamond, and it looked absolutely perfect on Cian’s lovely partner Rosie. It was an incredibly sparkly piece and catches the eye of anyone who sees it!

Victoria

As a bit of a geek, I did get a little bit excited when Victoria said she wanted to have a roman denarius set into a pendant, what a perfect way to show off such an incredible piece of roman history! I drew up a quick sketch of what were looking to do, when our incredible goldsmith Behzad had a great suggestion. Why don’t we make the coin’s mount the same as they would have traditionally worn in ancient Rome? Genius! So, we re-drew the design and set to work creating this amazing piece using some of Victoria’s inherited gold. It really is an incredible modern piece paying homage to another time.
