More ABOUT AMETHYST…

It is a purple variety of quartz (SiO2) and gets its violet colour to irradiation, impurities of iron and in some cases other transition metals.

We aim to provide you with the brightest and most scintillating amethysts from pale pink to Serbian purple. They are perfect semi-precious gem stones to experiment with bold cuts, shapes and sizes.

YOUR CARE GUIDE

Amethysts can be safely cleaned with warm soapy water. Ultrasonic cleaners are usually safe except in the rare instances where a stone is dyed or treated by fracture filling.

An amethyst will break more easily than more precious coloured gems stones like sapphires and rubies, however they are much less expensive to replace.

We generally hold a small selection of coloured gem stones in stock, but often arrange for our gem stone specialists to provide a more for you to look at. We will discuss any particular shapes, cuts, sizes, colours and budgets that you are after so we show you stones that are going to be right for you. Sometimes this is a staged process so don’t worry if you’re not sure at the moment.
